An Electrical Safety Seminar, organised by IOSH Ireland Branch, was held at the Greenhill’s Hotel, Ennis Road, Limerick on Tuesday, February 12th. Robert Vaughan and Garrett Kelly from Powerpoint Engineering Ltd were invited to attend and give their respective presentations in their areas of expertise.
Robert Vaughan’s presentation outlined the various legislative requirements and best practice associated with the in-service inspection and testing of portable electrical appliances, also known as Portable Appliance Testing or PAT Testing. Roberts’s presentation covered the various requirements governing PAT testing, the significance of the Portable Appliance tests and the importance of record keeping.
Garrett Kelly gave a presentation on some of the key safety features relating to Electrical Appreciation. Garrett’s detailed presentation covered General principles, Earthing, Fuses/MCBS/RCDS, Transformers, Distribution, 3 phase and much more.
IOSH is the Chartered body for health and safety professionals. The seminar was attended by senior health and safety professionals responsible for managing health and safety in the work. Both presentations were very well received from the 40 or so attendees and the seminar was a great success.
